What is Insomnia?
Insomnia, difficulty falling or staying asleep, can be caused by stress, poor sleep habits, shift work and sleep schedule changes. More than one-third of Americans experience occasional insomnia and chronic insomnia may affect as many as one in ten.
How is it treated?
The use of medications, both prescription and over-the-counter may alleviate the suffering. Sometimes relaxation therapies and stimulus control can provide relief.
